| Solo traveling may not be ranked high on many peoples list. Traveling alone can be a scary, but exciting thought all rolled into one. But sometimes you just don’t have anyone to go with you. Face the facts: not everyone wants to go through some foreign country and try to navigate there way through it. They also don’t want to roam around a jungle or swamp infested country. Its just not as appealing to them as it may be to you. You shouldn’t give up though. Yes, you can’t find some one that is willing to backpack ancient ruins with you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go yourself. Solo travel is always an option. A fearful one, but an option nonetheless. However, fear shouldn’t stop you from having a lifer altering experience. Traveling solo can not only change your life, but with it, change others as well. Take a step back and relax; have a breather. Here are a couple of ways to take the anxiety and fear out of traveling solo. Familiar and close places should be the first on your list. You should always take baby steps before giant leaps. So before you head off to another country or even continent, try something a little closer. This could be a city or two away from where you currently live. This will prepare you mentally for a longer and farther trip. Find group activities that are in places you want to visit. This can help you enormously; get a feel for a place and start making connections. Some activities may be: learning a new language, volunteer work, or even guide work. You’ll meet new people and bridge the gap of unfamiliar to familiar. Solo traveling can be a scary and worrisome thought. Lots of things can go wrong, but seeing the world on your own and on your own schedual is amazing. It is truly a liberating life. Disregard fear and anxiety for fun and adventure! Just remember to be safe and use your brain! |
