The United States has the Statue of Liberty, Italy has the Colosseum and India has the Taj Mahal, but when we think of the UK it can be difficult to name a tourist attraction of this calibre. While its offerings may be subtler than the 110ft tall bronze Buddha that China proudly displays, this tends to be the name of the game in the United Kingdom and if you look closely there are more exciting tourist attractions than you might think. 

Take, for instance, the Giant's Causeway in Ireland. What makes this tourist attraction so special is the fact that some forty thousand hexagonal basal stones were formed entirely naturally, tens of millions of years ago during volcanic activity.
